travel to the north

The title of this article indicates its importance. In our minds, most of us think of “travel to the north” and “the sea” as synonymous with the Chalus road, and many of our childhood travel memories are tied to the coastal cities of Mazandaran province, such as Chalus, Ramsar, Namakabroud, Mahmoudabad, Babolsar, etc. For this reason, it is not surprising that Mazandaran is the most popular tourist destination in the country.

For me, Mazandaran means the smell of rain-drenched forests, taking a bath on the beach of Radio Darya, watching the fog from the heights of Siyabisheh, the unforgettable taste of Kaka ice creams in Klardasht, the sweet smell of stuffed chicken, and the never-ending discussion about plums and green tomatoes. The parties to the dispute do not shy away from their positions. In fact, ending this debate is like finding a correct answer to the question “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” find. Of course, when you try Mazandarani’s heli katni, you will probably be among the fans of choosing the name plum for this sour and popular fruit.

It’s better to swallow your mouth watering for now, because we have a long jouey to Mazandaran province and we will get food and souvenirs at the end of the way.

Mazandaran province is one of the 3 neighboring provinces of Darya in the north of the country. This province is limited to Golestan province from the east, Gilan from the west, and Semnan, Tehran, Alborz and Qazvin provinces from the south.

This vast province has an area of about 23,756 square kilometers and covers 338 kilometers of the northe coast of the country. Of course, the sea is not the only natural blessing in this province. There is a large part of the Alborz mountain range and the Hyrcanian forests, lakes, caves, waterfalls and numerous mineral water springs in Mazandaran province, which, along with 800 historical and cultural monuments, have tued Mazandaran into one of the tourism hubs of the country and the Middle East region.

The proof of this claim is the statistics of approximately 12 million domestic tourists and 10 thousand foreign tourists who travel to this province every year, and Mazandaran cities are more crowded than most other tourist-friendly cities during the Eid holidays.

History of Mazandaran
Mazandaran is one of the oldest lands in Iran. Archaeologists’ discoveries in some of the caves of this province, such as Hutu and Gifmar, show that humans have been living in this area since 75 thousand years ago (prehistoric era).

Of course, the history of Mazandarani urbanization is not small, because the archaeological discoveries of Gohar Tepe show that urbanization has been prevalent in this land since 6 thousand years ago. Another historical fact that makes the people of Mazandarani quarrel with their history is that Amol is the second oldest city in Iran, whose name is mentioned in the texts that remain in Pahlavi language, as one of the cities in the north of Iran. Ferdowsi has mentioned Mazandaran many times in Shahnameh.

In the old days, this province was also called Tapuristan and Tabaristan, and many believe that the meaning of the name Mazandaran means a museum surrounded by a mountain. This ancient land has seen the rule of the Medes until now, and during this long history, it has trained many celebrities, the following list shows only a few of them:
